After using the watch for about two weeks, I wrote this review. Amazfit made no contributions to this evaluation.
Display and Design.
The hardware for the Amazfit GTR 4 is top-notch. It has the appearance and feel of a product designed to compete with the more expensive smartwatches available today. It is more comfortable to wear than the Amazfit T-Rex 2, which I just evaluated, because of its thin and light body. Sadly, I am unable to vouch for the comfort of the supplied rubber band. It started to bother my wrist after a couple of days. I simply take the watch off every few hours to let my skin breathe before re-putting it on.
Thanks to the common watch spring bar mechanism, which allows you to connect any 22mm watch band you desire, the bands are thankfully easily interchangeable. Each of your sensors is located on the watch's back. This smartwatch has quite a few of them, so there is a small bulge to accommodate the sensors and the two tiny metal charging connectors.
The GTR 4's display gives off the impression of being a high-end watch.
An excellent-looking AMOLED panel covers the watch's face. In reality, this watch's display is one of those features that gives you the impression that you're using a high-end gadget. It has clear images and is equally sensitive to my input as many other high-end smartwatches I've previously used. If you spend a lot of time outdoors, you'll love the fact that it gets bright enough to be used outside in the sun.

The GTR 4 also supports the always-on display function, which illuminates only the time and a few other watch complications. A battery drain warning is activated when this feature is turned on. However, more information is provided below. The watch's "raise to wake" feature, which is responsive and precise, is what I appreciate about it the most. It's an underutilised feature that, when it functions well, just feels natural. The GTR 4 does it correctly, though I've only seen it consistently work on a few high-end smartwatches.

Instead of Google's Wear OS, the Amazfit GTR 4 runs the company's proprietary "Zepp OS 2.0." While using the T-Rex 2, I got a taste of this particular OS, and it's really simple but effective. Zepp OS's pleasant ease of use is what I adore about it the most. If you have used another smartwatch before, you will get used to this software quickly.

Although it lacks some of the more advanced capabilities seen in other Wear OS alternatives, it still has a tonne of helpful features and does the essential functions well enough to prompt you to look for a substitute. Through the "Zepp" software, the watch syncs and connects with your smartphone. This particular programme is compatible with both Android and iPhone devices, so you won't lose out on any features if you choose one over the other. During my time with it, the GTR 4 had no trouble connecting to both my Galaxy S22 and the iPhone 12.

You can choose which apps can deliver notifications to your watch using the connected app. Every notification was nearly instantly mirrored to my watch, and I never had any connectivity troubles while using it. However, there aren't many ways to interact with the notifications provided by the watch. And in my opinion, that is one of Zepp OS's main drawbacks. For example, replying to messages relies on pre-written messages, which is not logical.
Custom replies cannot be typed or spoken, which is quite annoying. I always find myself reaching for my phone to answer or just tapping the "Delete" button to dismiss the notifications. Unfortunately, it's still one of my main complaints about the T-Rex 2 smartwatch. Similarly, the Zepp OS app selection is once again fairly limited. You only get a small selection of apps to install and utilize on your smartwatch, which clearly demonstrates the absence of Google support in this situation. It clearly falls short for power users due to the lack of software support.
Support for Alexa and Bluetooth calling are two more interesting features of the GTR 4, though I didn't use either function all that frequently throughout my use. Because the Bluetooth calling feature makes use of the watch's built-in speakers, it's important to note that you can't truly make or receive calls in public unless you're okay with it. When we attempted to pair some Bluetooth earbuds with the GTR 4, they would not connect.
However, I didn't find it to be that trustworthy when it came to tracking how frequently I stood up throughout the day. Additionally, because you keep receiving reminders telling you to stand during the day after you have already done so, this can rapidly become tiresome. Standing up and moving about for a while will help this work correctly by allowing the watch to detect activity.
Your smartphone's companion app serves as a central hub from which you can access all the data. This app's interface is equally as simple to use as the watch's. The app's user interface (UI) is rather simple and provides a thorough analysis of each activity and health measure being recorded. The app may be used to modify your watch's settings, add new apps, switch out your watch face, and more. For those that care, Amazfit also enables you to sync exercise data with programmes like Strava and Adidas Running.
Battery Power
I can last around ten days on a single charge with the Amazfit GTR 4's internal 475mAh battery. I have to say that I have also been using the watch rather heavily, so it's not quite the 14-day battery life that Amazfit promised me with the device. Every five minutes, the GTR-4 is programmed to monitor my heart rate and stress levels. I've also enabled alerts for high and low heart rates, help monitoring your sleep, and stress-relief reminders. In addition, as I already indicated, I take advantage of the GTR 4's always-on display function, which is probably the major cause of battery depletion.
The GTR 4 only loses 10% of its battery life each day while all of these functions are active, which is extremely astounding.
The T-Rex 2 had an unquestionably longer battery life, but the GTR 4 is more aesthetically pleasing and is substantially slimmer. Another major benefit, in my opinion, is that it lasts longer than any other Galaxy Watch or Apple Watch currently on the market. You begin to think of the GTR 4 as a regular watch that you never have to charge when you don't have to charge it every day. The best. When it is dead, it takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to fully recharge. That's not a lot of time to spend on something you might only need to do two or three times a month. Not to mention, if you don't use it as frequently as I do, you can always get more use out of it.
Must I purchase the Amazfit GTR 4?
The Amazfit GTR 4 excels in many areas, especially considering its affordable pricing, which places it below the industry leaders. For individuals who are on a tight budget and desire a smartwatch that they won't need to charge every day, it is an obvious choice. The GTR 4 does enough to keep you active and track the crucial metrics, such as blood oxygen, sleep, heart rate, and more, without having all the bells and whistles that the Galaxy Watch 5 and the Apple Watch Series 8 do.
Advanced users may find the lack of Google support and a strong family of apps to be glaring, but Amazfit has been able to extend the battery life of the GTR 4 by concentrating on the essential features and functionalities of a wristwatch. For people who only require a smartwatch for inactive purposes like tracking their fitness and checking their alerts, I can see this working nicely.
